Tense Times - the next Uranus-Pluto Square

Life might well be feeling tense again, as if someone or something is slowly twisting our nerves into a tight braid. Indeed, this should be familiar ground for most of us by now because we've been here four times in the recent past(1).  Two planets - or if you want to be an astronomical stickler, a planet and a dwarf planet, have been locked in a temperamental tango since 2012. Uranus, instigator of change, revolution, progress and freedom is forming a series of Squares with Pluto, small but powerful and the signifier of upheaval and destruction that leads to rebirth and transformation. This can be an explosive combination at any time but the Square aspect is known to present challenges and obstacles and to be a little testy. Consequently, a series of seven Squares between these two planetary gods is more than eventful for the human race. At present, we are inexorably approaching the fifth Uranus-Pluto Square, exact on April 21st (the next two will occur in December 2014 and Ma...

Journeys with the god

God is a word that still holds a lot of power. What does it bring to mind for you? Most people probably still think of god in the monotheistic sense, such as the Hebrew or Muslim god. It's difficult for some to relate to this notion of god now, one that perhaps seems too stern, overbearing, judgmental or dated. There is of course the goddess too, much revered in prehistoric times, such as the Venus figurines and other voluptuous statuettes dating as far back as 40,000 years. Many still have a relationship with god through organised religions but perhaps not the goddess, whereas those exploring alternative paths and faiths might no longer relate to god but have embraced the re-emerging goddess.  The concept of god and goddess can be related to the masculine and feminine aspects of the self. Psychologically it's healthy to seek a balance between the two. The goddess can be found in the land all around us, the Mother or Earth goddess; just by going out and spending time connectin...

Changing Gear - Uranus Direct

Feel a shift in the ether this week? Chances are you felt something, with the last full Moon of 2013 joining mighty Jupiter (17th December) in curious, restless Gemini. If that didn't frazzle or excite your emotions then perhaps Uranus shifting gears had more of an impact? The rabble-rouser, who adores change, freedom and all things shiny and new, is currently in pioneering and sprightly Aries. This combination simply bursts with activity - Uranus encourages innovation and the alternative, which suits Aries' taste for getting the ball rolling on fresh projects. Uranus promotes individualism and freedom while Aries is often me-first with a impatient streak - there's really no holding back. Indeed, excitement reigned when Uranus entered this Sign in 2011 - particularly for Aries themselves (and those with prominent Aries in their birth charts), as well as Aquarians, ruled by Uranus. It seemed this pairing had the potential to change the world for the better...

Seeking Meaning in Existence

What is the meaning of life , indeed, of existence ? It’s a question probably as old as our race. Maybe it’s a question that only arose because of our race? Yet no one has ever found the answer, although many have found a truth that suits them. Old Texts , New Thoughts R eligious texts, such as the  B ible,  at one time purported to have all the answers. Nothing much had to be questioned  - and in fact should not be questioned -  because everything was explained in  these comprehensive tomes . S ome insist  on keeping these views alive, perhaps   due to valuable morals but also from a  reluctan ce  to  let go of beliefs and practices that once served a purpose .  Maintaining  beliefs  also provide s  a sense of  comfort, security and familiarity. New ways of thinking and believing can be daunting, frightening an d difficult for some to embrace  yet for others  they’re  exciting, full of...

Thoughts on Origin

Where did it all begin?  Perhaps a m ore  pertinent question is  how did it all begin? And why?  Maybe it  isn't  all that relevant; we’re here and living life and that’s all that matters. It seems, though, I'm a little too curious… Point of  the  Unknown There is always going to be a point of unknown, a point of mystery. This is the point from which life and existence, as we know it, emerged. None of us know what existed beforehand, if anything or if it’s possible for nothing to have existed. For then where did everything originate; a big bang, a Metaverse, a parallel Universe or dimension? If so, where, how and why did  they  originate? Maybe everything was created by some grand, overseeing deity who was simply just bored? I remember, as a child, staring out my bedroom one day and thinking, what would happen if the ground disappeared? There’d be more earth underneath. But w hat w ould happen if the Earth disapp...
