Zenith Astrology

We live in an era dominated by scientific understanding and rapid advances in technology. So why would a so-called pseudoscience like astrology be growing in popularity? It's not the first time this ancient practice has experienced a resurgence and it is perhaps for an unlikely reason - the persisting interest in astrology speaks to a deeper human need, one that transcends rationality and taps into our collective consciousness. At its core, astrology provides an uncanny and entertaining way of understanding ourselves and the world around us. It can be superficial and fun, or employed in a more meaningful and profound way, by delving into the human psyche to expose our potential fears, motives, behaviours and passions. But unlike science, which explains rational processes, astrology aligns more with story-telling and universal archetypes that hold deeper meaning to which we can all relate. Furthermore, in a society plagued by uncertainty and fear, astrology can offer a sense of c...

ORIGINS OF ASTROLOGY PRE 4,000 BCE The origins of astrology could be said to date back as far as 15, 000 BCE, to the Stone Age, when humans carved markings on animal bones to record the lunar phases. Although a very basic form of astrology, it is evident that human beings identified a relationship with the movement of the ‘stars’ from a very early time. Prior to established civilisation, evidence exists that humans discovered a relevant connection between at least one other planetary body and mundane life, i.e., the Sun. Megalithic monuments found throughout Europe and beyond, including Stonehenge in England, Newgrange in Ireland, Nabta Playa in Egypt, Amazon Stonehenge in Brazil and many more, testify to this revelation. Further research suggests that the people responsible for building these colossal structures would have possessed astronomical and mathematical knowledge equivalent to that of Renaissance Europe. The majority of these monuments, constructed between 4,000-2,000...

The Full Moon on June 9th, 2017, coincided with another astronomical and astrological event - Jupiter, king of the planets, at an apparent standstill. From today onwards, it will slowly resume direct motion, from East to West, across the night sky. Of course, Jupiter is always orbiting the Sun in one direction, just like the rest of the bodies in the Solar System. But now and again, when observed from our earthly perspective, it appears to move from West to East. This is known as retrograde motion, caused by differences in the speed of Earth's orbit to Jupiter's and can be seen in all the observable planets. Jupiter entered retrograde motion on 6th February 2017. In astrology, a retrograde planet generally signifies delays and disappointments, challenges and obstructions, setbacks and defeat. However, it is also an ideal time to review and rethink our plans, to take stock and readjust our course or simply rest and recuperate. Each planet represents a different theme when retro...

September 28th, 2015, will see another total lunar eclipse. This is the final eclipse in a series of four, known as a Tetrad (four consecutive total lunar eclipses with six Full Moons in between). The 2014/15 Lunar Eclipse Tetrad occurs in the Zodiac Signs Aries and Libra. They are indicative of our individual and collective struggles, as we each come to terms with our pain and the shared suffering of humanity. Through these experiences, we encounter a personal rebirth and ultimately the whole of the human race evolves greater awareness and insight. Astronomically, a lunar eclipse happens when the Moon is positioned directly behind the Earth thus in its shadow, unable to reflect any sunlight. Lunar eclipses are visible anywhere on the night-side of the Earth. The previous eclipses in this Tetrad were 15th April 2014, 8th October 2014 and 4th April 2015. Lunar eclipses in astrology can symbolise a time of crisis, specifically emotional because of the ...
